SurfaceSkins, a concept currently under development is a range of new, innovative
hand hygiene devices based on a new fabric delivery system that is capable of inducing
a biocidal response immediately after contact by users. This involves the exploitation
of a fabric assembly that enables permeation of a pre-loaded solvent or biocide to
a contact surface to induce rapid cleaning of target organisms. In combination with
alcohol gel dispensers and other hospital cleaning protocols, SurfaceSkins is designed
to reduce the spread of lethal hospital superbugs such as MRSA and C-Diff between
individuals from areas of unavoidable contact, such as push plates and door handles.
The SurfaceSkins product will be fitted to push plates and door handle covers to
induce sterilization of the contact surface after every individual use. SurfaceSkins
also has mass market potential in infection control and sterilization in Public &
Private Sector Hospitals, Clinics & Surgeries, Care & Nursing Homes, Cruise Ships,
Cinemas, Universities, Gymnasiums, Chain Stores, Retail Outlets, Restaurants, Food
Preparation Facilities, Public Houses, Bars, Veterinary Surgeries and Dental Surgeries.
