NIRI is developing Hydrospace™ (roll product) and HydroTube™ (tubular product) technology based on the hydroentanglement process. Both enable continuous filling of actives within the fabric cross-section enabling the development of new products in filtration, personal protection, medical delivery systems, wipes, automotive sound absorption and composites, amongst others.

NIRI has been developing Hydrospace™ technology for several years and is now ready to begin the commercialisation phase of this exciting novel patented* technology.

Hydrospace™ fabrics are lightweight hydroentangled fabrics with unique internal cavities within the cross-section; these can be of many different shapes and sizes. The cavities can be filled with gels, waxes, cosmetics, detergents and solid particles to functionalise the fabric.

NIRI’s HydroTube™ fabrics are lightweight hydroentangled fabrics which are produced as continuous seamless tubes. They can be made from virtually any fibre that is compatible with hydroentanglement. The size can be varied and the interior can be left hollow or filled to functionalise the fabric as the tube is formed.

NIRI is currently refining HydroTube™ and looking to begin the commercialisation phase of this exciting, novel, patented technology.
